PSA: the global standard
PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) is the most recognized and most liquid service. A PSA 10 Gem Mint card typically resells for 2 to 10 times the price of the same raw card, and the PSA grade is the reference point on eBay as well as on specialist marketplaces.
The trade-off: cards travel to the United States, shipping and insurance from France add €30 to €80 to a bulk submission, and turnaround times run around 2 to 3 months. It's the default choice as soon as a card has genuine resale value.
CGC: value for money
CGC (Certified Guaranty Company) has established itself as the most credible alternative to PSA, particularly on modern cards. Prices are often a little lower, turnaround times are shorter, and the slab is highly regarded. Its resale grade still sits slightly below PSA, especially on vintage cards.
BGS: precise sub-grades
BGS (Beckett Grading Services) grades four sub-criteria — centering, corners, edges and surface — displayed on the back of the slab. The BGS 10 Black Label (all four sub-grades at 10) is one of the most prestigious labels in the hobby and commands considerable premiums.
